This piece was thrown on the wheel, then burnished to create a smooth surface. Two types of terra sigillata were brushed and poured on the piece and burnished to create a lustrous sheen. The piece was fired in a saggar with copper, steel wool, cobalt carbonate, copper mesh, and iron oxide. It is a decorative object and not food or dishwasher safe. It has been polished with wax to protect the surface.
